Pleass Global Limited exports Pet bottles for recycling

July 12, 2018 6:22 pm

In an effort to clear the environment of plastic bottles, Pleass Global Limited is working with an Australian company to recycle bottles into resin and make new bottles.

Pleass Global Limited Managing Director, Warwick Pleass says they want their bottles recycled into new bottles and not into fibre.

“We chose to recycle our bottles back to Australia because there is one factory there, it’s the only one in the Southern hemisphere that can turn our bottles into food-grade PET which can then be bought by water bottling factories or soft drink factories to make the new bottle so that’s recycling.”

He says the bottles are grounded into small pieces and shipped to Australia for recycling.

“The factory would take that flake and they will mix it in with all the millions of bottles that they will get back from their market in Australia and process that back into high technology machinery to make food-grade PET and the reason that.”

A common misconception is that when bottles are recycled – they are used to make new bottles, however, most recycled bottles are actually turned into fibre for other purposes.
