People warned not give false info for Home Care Initiative

The government has today stressed that anyone caught falsifying their personal details for the Home Care Initiative will be taken to task.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa says they are urging people to be honest with the information they provide.

“The assistance that government is giving in relation to Home Care are for household goods and structural damage due to the climatic events that we have passed and also for the household goods that event has to be flooding or landslide in some areas.”

Vuniwaqa is warning those that may think otherwise to try and get the grants even though they were not affected.

“The statutory declaration that people need to sign in applying for the grants and this is governed by law and if they make false declaration they can be persecuted for giving false information.”

Meanwhile, 5,387 families who’s houses have been damaged or household contents damaged through floods have been assisted through a tune of $7.1m.
