August 2, 2018 5:07 am

Claims of workers being unfairly treated at the PAFCO fishing company in Levuka have been brought to the Prime Minister’s attention.

Complaints about unpaid working days, low wages and unhealthy working conditions were some of the major issues discussed.

Workers were vocal during a three-hour Talanoa session with Bainimarama this week and expressed their disappointment with the operations of the company.

PAFCO Board Director Iqbal Janiff says the company is working hard to try and meet the demands of workers.

“We are having a meeting with the representatives of your unions on Friday, there will be some issues brought up, the issue of allowance that was raised earlier we will discuss this with your officials.”

PAFCO currently employs over a thousand people.
