The Fiji Police Force has confirmed that the persons depicted in a You Tube video being shot at far out at sea are not Fijian nationals.
Police Commissioner, Major General Ben Groenewald says a thorough investigation with relevant authorities has established that the video was shot outside of Fiji waters.
He says it involved a confrontation between Asian fishing crew and pirates somewhere in the Indian Ocean.
Information gathered from the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji and Telecommunication Authority of Fiji also confirms the vessel shown in the video has never entered Fijian waters.
Investigations further established the video was first viewed in mid 2013 and had been circulating in Fiji in March this year.
It was also established two former fishing crew members confirmed receiving the video from their friends.
Fiji Police say the case is now closed and will not be making any further comments on the matter.
