The Fiji Airways men’s 7s team will unleash a new speedster in the form of Alosio Naduva in the Sydney tournament this weekend.

Coach Gareth Baber earlier highlighted that Naduva is a player that will be Fiji’s answer of having a good finisher who has speed to burn and the ability to create opportunities for his team-mates.

Having hailed from the same village with former Fiji 7s rep Benito Masilevu from Naweni in Cakaudrove, Naduva will be out to prove himself.

Meanwhile, former Fiji 7s robust forward, Isake Katonibau who has played alongside Naduva in Suva and Army rugby teams says Naduva will make an impact in the Sydney tournament.

“Alasio Naduva is a hard worker I have been playing alongside with him. He is very much talented, he has got a lot of speed, resilient and he has got that uncompromising type of character. I believe that he will play to the best of his ability.”

Katonibau has asked the fans to back the side when they take on top teams in Sydney.

“I hope that they will come out victorious and we play they will beat all the teams and bring a smiling face to the Fijians here in Fiji.”

Fiji is pooled with New Zealand, Samoa and Russia.

They open their campaign against Samoa at 8.28 tonight.
