Nabukavesi Diabetes Community Peer Group Leader, Loame Bainivalu says NCD’s are a major contributor to the high mortality rate in the country.

“Since 2014 we have controlled the patients with diabetes so none have been referred to hospital for major complications and our peer members are fortunate to receive the support from diabetes Fiji.”

Meanwhile, eye checkups and diabetes screening were also part of the event whereby counselors from Empower Pacific were available to council the public on general health issues.
