The Nasinu Town Council received a new vehicle from the Indian High Commission to assist the municipality in waste management.
The new Mahindra Scorpio twin-cab is valued at $54,767 and will be managed by a soon to be appointed environment ranger.
Local Government and Environment Minister Parveen Kumar officiated at the handing over of the vehicle in Suva yesterday.
Kumar says Nasinu produces about 16,000 tonnes of waste annually costing the council $1.4m for waste disposal.
