MSP celebrates International Day of the Girl Child

October 11, 2014 5:04 am

Medical Services Pacific today marked the International Day of the Girl Child by empowering children at St Christopher’s Orphanage in Nakasi.

The United Nations has set aside this day to promote girls’ rights, highlighting gender inequalities and addressing discrimination and abuse suffered by girls around the world.

The Orphanage provides care not only for orphans but for other children in need, and those who are away from their families for various reasons.

Around 30 children, from infancy to 18 years old, are currently in the care of the home.

MSP staff joined sisters at the home to raise awareness about child rights in order to introduce children to concepts of child protection.
