The woman who allegedly drove her car off the road and into the Rewa River has been charged with one count of murder for the death of her 4-year-old daughter.

The 4-year-old girl died after her mother allegedly drove her car, off the road near Kasavu on Sunday night.

Police say the victim and her 35-year-old mother had left their home in Vuci South and on their way it is alleged her mother called her husband stating she was going to take both their lives.

Bystanders conveyed both the mother and daughter to the Nausori Hospital.
The 4-year-old was pronounced dead.

The mother will appear at the Nausori Magistrates Court this morning.
