Faith based organizations have been the backbone to the establishment of many schools in the country.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says without their assistance – there would’ve been a shortage of schools and government would have also struggled with the education system.

Officiating at a ground breaking ceremony of a new project at the Nasinu Sangam School in Narere today, Sayed-Khaiyum stressed on the reasons behind the huge allocation to the education ministry in the new budget.

“Most of these schools have been essentially started by various faith based organizations and major community based organizations and it weren’t for these organizations government would have struggled right from independence times to actually cater for education. We have allocated over a billion dollars to the education sector is because education is really the key to success to any country.”

TISI Sangam President, Sadasivan Naicker says the school has close to a thousand students with a ratio of fifty students per class and the construction of the new hall and classrooms will provide more space.
Work on the $2M project will start in two weeks’ time.
