March 4, 2019 7:32 am

More hearing clinics and checkups need to be organized for children around the country.

Frank Hilton Organization’s Specialist in Hearing Aids and Ear Care Sevanaia Ratumaitavuki says if hearing impairment is detected early, more can be done for children.

Ratumaitavuki says one of the reasons why children completely lose their hearing is late detection.

He says to address this, the organization is working with special schools around the country.

“We are targeting school children because we want to detect school children who have hearing losses. Because if kids are detected earlier and then we find that they have hearing loss, we can fix them with hearing aids.”

Meanwhile, a World Hearing Day organized by the Frank Hilton Organization was celebrated in Suva yesterday seeing over hundreds of people turning up to get screened.
