More awareness to be raised on climate change using art

The Catholic Church of Fiji will continue to raise more awareness on climate change through the use of art in the coming months.

Head of the Catholic Church, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong says in the pacific, art holds a special place in people’s lives and using this medium can be beneficial.

He says we have a history of storytelling and this can also be incorporated to convey messages related to the conservation of the environment.

“We want to continue in bringing climate change message through other medium. So one of that is especially through art whether it be poetry, songs or dances.”

Archbishop Chong says Catholic Churches around the country has dedicated this month to raise awareness about climate change in church first before sharing it with community members.

He says faith based organizations play an important role in raising awareness on issues affecting the nation.
