In Namosi, 11 cases were reported of which six were confirmed and 5 were suspected cases.

Dr Waqainabete says one of the main causes of the increase in cases that they’ve identified is improper toilet facilities and water sources for these villagers.

Some of the villagers are relying on river water for cooking, drinking and other daily chores.

The Ministry has successfully been able to consult and negotiate with the landowners to secure a clean water source for the villages.

The Ministry has also so far constructed water seal toilet facilities in the villages.

The Minister has commended the partnership with the villagers in these areas.
