More than two hundred and eighteen thousand children aged between one to nineteen years have been vaccinated under the National Meningococcal Immunization Program.
The program which is currently being rolled out in the Western and Northern Division will commence in the Eastern Division next week.
In phase one of the Men C Immunization Program, a total of 124,920 children have been immunized in the Central and Ra Subdivision with 124,830 doses made available.
In the second phase 200,000 doses were made available and more than 94,000 children in the western and eastern divisions have been immunised.
Health Minister, Rosy Akbar says twenty thousand children are expected to be immunized in the Eastern division with the beginning of the 3rd school term next week.
An immunization team comprising of health officials will leave tomorrow for the Eastern Division through the recently launched and first of its kind mobile hospital vessel “MLC Veivueti”
