A man who raped a girl who was 8-years-old in 2016 has been found guilty of one count of rape by the Lautoka High Court.

The incident occurred on 6th October in 2016.

The 8-year-old was playing with her cousin when the man who was the victim’s grand uncle came and grabbed her hand and pulled her towards a creek and raped her.

The court heard that the accused ran away when the victim’s grandmother started calling her.

The victim went to her grandmother crying and informed her about the incident.
The accused is expected to be sentenced this week.
