Dinesh Reddy of Nadovi

A 34-year-old fisherman of Nadi is still astonished after catching a fish weighing more than 200kg today.

Dinesh Reddy of Nadovi says they couldn’t believe the size of the Kawakawa they had caught.

Reddy says they did not expect to catch a fish that huge.

He says at first they thought it was a shark.

“It took us almost 45 minutes to pull the fish close to the boat and it was so heavy we couldn’t lift it onto the boat so we tied a rope around the gills and dragged it right onto the beach. It was a mission but we got it at the end.”

According to Reddy he’s being fishing for 25 years and has never caught a fish that big.

He says this will be a memorable catch for him.

Reddy plans to sell the fish.
