Krishna Datt not contesting elections

July 22, 2014 7:46 pm

Former politician Krishna Datt will not be contesting the general election in September.

In a statement, the former Minister for Labour says the thought of standing for the election has crossed his mind several times but he believes there are a sufficient number of young people who have the ability, capacity and the will to contribute to the political development of the country.

Datt adds, his decision does not mean he is retiring from politics.

He believes he still has a lot to offer and is looking forward to working with the leaders of the future.

Datt says as a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party, his interest thus far has been to see that the Party is established and it’s manifesto launched.

With the party now well on its way, Datt says he has decided to move on to play other roles if and when the opportunity comes his way.
