The fight against cyber crime activities in the country is no longer the sole responsibility of the State, says Acting Minister for Defence Joketani Cokanasiga.
Opening a Cyber Security workshop this morning – Cokanasiga says Fiji needs to build the bridge that would ensure the holistic participation of all stakeholders.
That includes individual citizens, private sector and government agencies to foster stronger lines of communication and above all – trust.
He says cyber crime involves new opportunities to commit old crimes in a new way.
The worst is that – it is now organised – trying to take advantage of those using internet services for financial gain, and threats to the most vulnerable, child pornography, terrorist use of internet.
Senior Government representatives, senior officials from the private sector are attending the three day workshop.
