I did not imagine my wife would die: Yasin

The man accused of murdering his wife in Wailailai Ba three years ago, Mohammed Yasin, has testified he is remorseful for his acts.

Yasin is charged with one count of murder and testified in his own defense in the Suva High Court this morning.

Yasin in recalling the day of the alleged offense admitted stabbing his wife… surprisingly, he also told the court that he did not imagine that his wife would die.

In his testimony, Yasin said that the sight of his wife talking with his mother angered him, causing him to stab her.

The couple was separated, however the victim, Maimum Nisha was in contact with her husband’s family.

On the day of the alleged offense, the victim travelled from Nadi to Ba to meet her in-laws.

The accused said he went to sit under a mango tree after the stabbing incident and was worried about what had happened.

While sitting there, Yasin said he saw neighbors taking his wife to the hospital.

He informed the court he was full of remorse.

He said within few hours Police arrived at his sister’s place.

He claimed that he says he was dragged by the officers to the Police vehicle.

The case continues tomorrow.
