Heavy rain warning remains in force

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the Southern and Eastern parts of Viti Levu.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of the Fiji group.

The Fiji Meteorological Services says a trough of low pressure lies just to the west of Fiji.

Associated cloud and rain affects the group.

Tropical disturbance 02F lies to the east of Solomon Islands embedded within the trough and is expected to gradually move southeast and pass close to Fiji.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

Heavy rain warning remains in force

The Fiji Meteorological Office has issued a heavy rain warning for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

It says a trough of low pressure lies slow moving to the north of Fiji and is anticipated to affect parts of the country until later today.

Periods of rain and few thunderstorms along with isolated heavy falls can be expected, however, rain will gradually ease to showers later today.

It’s important to remember localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

A heavy rain warning is now in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Yasawa group and the eastern half of Viti Levu.

The Fiji Meteorological Office reports a trough of low pressure remains slow moving over Fiji and is anticipated to affect Fiji for the next few days.

These area can also expect periods of rain and few thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls.

The rain is forecast to gradually easing to showers from the west later tonight.

Important to note that localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

The Fiji Meteorological Officer says a heavy rain alert remains in force for northern Lau group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

A trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over the Fiji group and is expected to affect the country for the next few days.

For the rest of Fiji we can expect isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls, rain becoming frequent from later tomorrow and localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti group, the interior eastern and southern parts of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

This as a trough of low pressure to the west of Fiji continues to gradually move near the group.

Meanwhile, another trough affects Vanua Levu and is drifting towards the group.

Associated cloud and showers is expected to affect the Fiji group till Friday.

The Meteorology Office also issued a heavy rain alert for the rest of fiji.

MET says a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remain slow moving over the group.

Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, northern Lau group, northern Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca group can expect occasional rain.

MET says rain is expected to become frequent and heavy with squally thunderstorms from this afternoon with localised heavy falls which may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

As for the rest of Fiji, occasional showers, possibly heavy at times and isolated thunderstorms can be expected.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and lomaiviti group,
Yasawa and Mamanuca group, northern and western parts of Viti Levu.

A heavy rain alert also remains in force for the rest of Fiji as a trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the country.

Meanwhile, Topical Depression 08F lies slow moving just to the south of Fiji.
Another significant tropical disturbance, TD07F currently to the far west-northwest of Fiji is expected to move towards the country and may gradually intensify into a tropical depression and affect the group from tonight.

Forecast for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and lomaiviti group, Yasawa and Mamanuca group.

There will be periods of rain, heavy at times and few squally thunderstorms.
Localized heavy falls may lead to flooding of low lying areas.

For northern and western parts of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, there will be occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Kadavu, Lau group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

A dominant moist north-westerly wind flow prevails over the group with the trough of low pressure just to the west of the country.

Meanwhile, tropical depression 08F was located at about 62km southwest of ono-i-Lau at midday today.

TD08F is moving south-southeast at about 15km/hr and is expected to continue moving south away from Fiji.

However, Tropical Disturbance, 07F is currently to the far northwest of Fiji, near Vanuatu and expected to move towards Fiji, gradually intensify into a depression, and possibly affect the group from Thursday.

For vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Kadavu and Lau group: periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

Rain expected to gradually ease from later today.

For western viti Levu and Yasawa group: occasional showers and few thunderstorms.

For the rest of Fiji: afternoon or evening showers. Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms expected.

Showers possibly increasing to rain from tomorrow.

Heavy rain warning remains in force

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and the nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, eastern half of Viti Levu and the Yasawa and Mamanuca group.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

And a strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas of Fiji.

A flood alert remains in force for all small streams, creeks and low lying areas adjacent to major rivers on Vanua Levu and eastern part of Viti Levu, Rakiraki town and all low lying areas in Fiji.

Tropical Depression TD17F was analysed 480km north-northwest of Nadi at 4am today.

It is currently slow moving but is expected to gradually move southeastwards towards the group.

Associated trough with active rain bands is expected to affect the group till Monday.

At this stage TD17F has a low chance to develop into a Tropical Cyclone over Fiji waters.
