Work will soon commence on 17 bridges that have been identified as critical by the Fiji Roads Authority.
FRA Chief Executive, Jonathan Moore, says they are reviewing the tenders and three major contracts will be awarded soon.
Moore says it is a significant contract that involves 17 bridges through-out the country.
“In those three contracts we are focused on bridges that are really in jeopardy. So we have carried out repairs to hold them for another few years and now we are going through the process of actually replacing them.”
The government has in the last five years invested over seven hundred and fifty million dollars to improve infrastructure.
