The Fiji Roads Authority Board has awarded the Denarau Bridge replacement contract to Pacific Marine and Civil Solutions.

PCMS a subsidiary of Pacific Building Solutions, specializes in over-water buildings, wharfs, piers, jetties, marinas, breakwaters, seawalls and dredging waterways.

FRA Chief Executive Officer Neil Cook says work will start towards the end of this year and expected to take about a year to complete.

“The original design had been to build a new bridge side by side but as you can appreciate that, it would create a misalignment to the road. We think we got a solution that will allow us to replace the bridge in its current location while maintaining traffic flow to the island throughout the construction period.”

The Denarau Bridge has been in a poor condition for some years.
