Watching the Flying Fijians play their first game in Japan next week is a dream come true for Whalley Fonmanu.

Fonmanu is the winner of Gold FM and Bula FM’s Fiji vs. Australia rugby promotion.

Receiving two return air tickets and $1000 spending money from the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation in Suva today, Fonmanu says it’s an unexpected blessing.

With his wife accompanying him to the game, Fonmanu says the promotion has given them a chance to travel overseas together.

“I’ve always wanted to go to Japan and this competition has given me the opportunity to go to Japan because it’s what I’ve always been dreaming of and this trip is a blessing. And the bonus part is that we get to watch our very own Flying Fijians.”

Gold FM Program Director, Kara Koroi says they had hundreds of entries weekly on both stations.

“To have the game held all the way in Japan, it was a perfect opportunity for people to be part of a world class or international game that is of this magnitude. The response we got from listeners each time we ran the competition on air is huge.

Fonmamu’s name was picked during the live draw last month on the two stations’ breakfast shows.

Meanwhile, the Flying Fijians will take on the Wallabies next week Saturday at the Sapporo Dome.
