The Fiji National Provident Fund has won a major global award for excellence at the International Social Security Organisation (ISSA) in South Korea.

FNPF was singled out for its ongoing reform program and enhancement of returns on the retirement savings of ordinary Fijians.

FNPF Chair Ajith Kodagoda, and FNPF CEO Aisake Taito were presented with a citation at the awards ceremony in Seoul by the President of the ISSA, Errol Frank.

Speaking afterwards, Kodagoda says it is the first time in the 85-year history of the ISSA that any Pacific Island country had been recognised and FNPF is delighted and humbled to receive the award.

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, sent his congratulations to Taito, Kodagoda and the FNPF team.

Bainimarama says the award is a huge international vote of confidence in the FNPF.

He says the FNPF administration has drawn a lot of criticism in recent times and the award demonstrates that government’s program is necessary.

FNPF was picked from about 360 member organisations in 160 countries.
