The Public Accounts Committee meeting has been deferred till next week.
The committee which was scheduled to hold its first sitting today has been deferred because of issues raised by both sides of the House.
Secretary General to Parliament, Viniana Namosimalua says only the Speaker of the House, Dr. Jiko Luveni can rule on the issues affecting the committee.
“The committee has been deferred to a later date because there are certain procedural issues that need to be sorted out between the parties, we will leave that to the Speaker to rule on when she returns in the weekend.”
Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Professor Biman Prasad told FBC News that he would release a statement on the postponed meeting later today.
Speaker of the House, Dr. Jiko Luveni is in Indonesia on an official visit and is expected to return over the weekend.
The Public Accounts Committee members are expected to evaluate the Auditor General’s reports going back six years from 2007 to 2013 before submitting a report to Parliament at its earliest convenience.
