For the first time ever in the history of the Anglican Church in Fiji, a local will be today ordained as the Bishop of Polynesia.
Reverend Fereimi Cama will become one of the three Archbishops and Primates of the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.
The Anglican Church has confirmed that Archbishop Cama will be ordained at the Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral church in Suva today.
Archbishop Cama says this is great news for him and his family.
“For being the first is not something new. I was the first Fijian that became the dean of the cathedral in Suva and during my term in the cathedral, I used to go around assisting newly ordained priests and lay ministers.”
Archbishop Cama hails from Ono-I-Lau and was raised a Methodist and became an Anglican after marrying his wife in 1976.
