Fijians are urged to thoroughly verify information before conducting online transactions with overseas companies.

This comes after the Police Criminal Investigation Department received complaints from people who have sent large sums of money to overseas companies only to find out later they do not exist.

The public is urged to call 9905283 to verify details of overseas companies as police will have the ability to link up with their overseas counterparts such as INTERPOL to conduct the verification process.

This applies to anyone who wishes to purchase goods or services online.
