Fiji first in the region for APQR review

The Fiji Higher Education Commission has established itself as the first external quality assurance agency for tertiary education to be entered in the Regional Register.

An international team appointed by the Asia Pacific Quality Register(APQR) visited the institution to review its operations upon the request of the Commission.

The team paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Education Dr Mahendra Reddy and discussed the review undertaken at the institution.

Reddy expressed his appreciation saying the assurance review will ensure there is improvement in the systems and processes which will have a positive impact in the quality of students trained in higher education sectors.

The review panel will make a report to the Asia Pacific Quality Register with recommendations for further improvements.

Review team chair Professor Collin Peiris says they are deeply impressed by the achievement of the Commission in a short period of five years.

He says the team is grateful for the initiative shown by FHEC in asking for this review.
