FICTU to discuss ILO agreement

February 5, 2016 9:02 pm

*The Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions (FICTU) will hold a meeting today to discuss several issues which include the recent ILO tripartite mission, the joint Implementation report and the Employment Relations Advisory Board.

General secretary Attar Singh told FBC News that despite the agreement reached by the tripartite partners – the Fiji Trades Union Congress, the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation and the government, they feel a number of issues have not been addressed.

“The idea of the meeting is to inform the members of the unions who have been affected as to what our demands were, what the ILO had recommended for the government to do and what actions have been taken and what remains outstanding. It is for us to identify those differences and outstanding matters and leave it to the unions to decide what actions they want to take.”
