The Fijian Elections Office will embark on another overseas voter registration drive next month.

Elections Supervisor, Mohammed Saneem, says this is possible due to the continuing calendar of parliament.

Saneem says this has presented the FEO an opportunity to engage in another round of overseas voter registrations and conduct voter awareness.

The FEO has to date registered over two thousand nine hundred Fijians overseas and out of this number six hundred and ninety-six will be first time voters.

“In the event there is somebody overseas who has their voter cards but contains address from Fiji the person can still vote in the general election by applying for a postal vote. One we preferred that a person updates their registration details for the voter card in the event they were not able to do so they can still vote by applying for a postal vote using the existing details on their voter cards."

The registration teams will visit Australia, New Zealand and the USA between June 15th and the 30th.

The FEO has requested assistance from the Fiji Missions in respective countries to reach out to Fijian communities and identify locations where there is a demand for voter services.
