More Fijians voted via postal ballots in comparison to that in 2014.

As a result, the initial estimate of polling stations of 16 had to be increased to 19 after 9180 postal ballot were verified and added to the count.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem explains why the polling stations than increased from 2170 to 21 73 which is now reflected in the FEO app.

“However once the ballot papers returned, 9 180 ballot papers were admitted to count, that meant that our projection had to be increased and the figure was beyond our projection and we had to make up 19 ballot boxes for count, we only count maximum of 500 per polling station and that is why the polling stations is now 2173.”

Meanwhile, it’s expected that the imputing of all the data for the final results of the General Election 2018 will be wrapped up tonight.

More than half the polling stations have now been updated on the official results with only 458 polling stations left to get through.
