The Electronic Voter Registration will re-open from the 10th November allowing Fijians to register themselves if they haven’t done so.
Elections Minister – Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the registrations will continue until 7th December.
Sayed-Khaiyum says people who have registered, can check their details in the systems.
So far, 488,000 Fijians have registered to vote in the 2014 election.
“We have found that there were some suspicious registrations, approximately 1,300. There was a person who registered ten times. He wore a different shirt each time he registered but this is the fantastic thing about the system adopted by the Fijian government, that is, it is able to pick up these types of identity thefts.”
Figures released show that 78,553 people from the Northern division has registered.
198,003 people registered in the Central division and 188,787 people are from West.
Another 23,298 people registered to vote in the Eastern Division.
