As the Superannuation Fund is making efforts to recover unpaid contributions, there are revelations that some employees do not check their accounts due to the fear of victimization.

The Fiji National Provident Fund reveals they do not have the required resources to inspect all the employers.

FNPF’s Chief Financial Officer, Pravinesh Singh is reminding employees to be proactive and to check their accounts.

“There are some sad situation where employees feel they would be victimized and they do not come forward to check their accounts or even if they know they feel that their employer might terminate them but the law is quite clear on victimization. We can take the employer to court but is very important for the employees to check their account to account for regular contributions.”

The total outstanding contribution owed to FNPF stands at nine-point-five-million dollars.

The Fund has recovered $1.7 million through legal proceedings while close to one hundred cases are still before the court.
