Eight-fold increase in road investment over ten years

There has been an eight-fold increase in road investments around the country over the last ten years.

Infrastructure Minister, Jone Usamate says the funding has increased by 800 percent which depicts the government’s commitment to improving the standard of our roads.

Usamate says the volume of road maintenance carried out by the Fiji Roads Authority has increased dramatically.

“Currently, we have around 7600km of roads in this country. Over the past 10 years, the length of unsealed roads that have been taken over by the FRA has increased by 2000km in the last ten years.”

The FRA in the 2018/2019 National Budget was allocated $563.1 million.
