Crushing at the Rarawai Sugar Mill in Ba has stopped due to the lack of cane supply.
FBC News understands, cane lorry drivers are protesting, refusing to supply cane to the mill.
The lorry operators are up in arms over mechanically harvested cane being given priority over hand harvested cane.
Cane lorry operators President Mukesh Kumar says they have just finished a meeting with the Fiji Sugar Corporation.
Kumar says he is now talking to cane lorry operators before releasing any other information.
FSC Executive Chair Abdul Khan says the protest by the lorry operators is illegal and it’s a situation they didn’t want early in the crushing season.
Khan is on his way to the Rarawai Sugar Mill to attend to the situation.
