Man allegedly transporting illicit drugs in custody

A man in his late 40’s is now in custody for allegedly transporting illicit drugs from Suva to Nadi.

The drugs are believed to be Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Marijuana.

Police intercepted the vehicle he was driving at the Navo Bridge in Nadi last night and searched it.

This resulted in the discovery of clear plastics containing crystals believed to be methamphetamine, a white plastic containing powder believed to be cocaine and two bullets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

The suspect was arrested and questioned leading to information of a suspected laboratory at the Planet Haze nightclub used for manufacturing illicit substances.

The same team of officers then searched the nightspot resulting in the discovery of alleged materials and equipment believed to be used in the manufacturing of the illicit drugs.

The scene has been sealed off as the forensic team conducts their investigation.

Meanwhile, a man is also in custody after police raided his home in Sabeto Central, Nadi last night.

Police seized clear plastics containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine.

The Western Divison Taskforce also found small clear plastic bags containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana as well as smoking apparatus.

All the seized substances have been sent for analysis.
