Police are now looking for suspects allegedly involved in the use of syringes to administer illicit drugs to youths in some of the busiest streets of Suva.
The latest incident took place last weekend.
FBC News has obtained exclusive video footage of the new drug trend along famous Victoria Parade and this has become a huge concern for the Police Force.
The twenty-minute footage shows the group allegedly trying to inject drugs into their system and during the ordeal some got involved in a violent attack that happened a few feet away.
Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho confirms a few people have been arrested.
“We have picked up video footage of people being injected even over the weekend, this recent weekend we have picked up a lady with the syringes and other apparatus thats utilized in the administration of drugs so thats a worrying for us”.
Qiliho says they’re working tirelessly to apprehend those involved.
“We are looking at those in from overseas and we are also working hard to find manufacturers. The investigation is where they are sourcing the drugs from to administer, where they are buying these syringes from or where they are acquiring them.”
He says the fight against drugs will continue until they’re able to clean the society from this threat as this is becoming a major concern.
