The trial date for a man facing rape charges has been set by the Suva High Court.

Ateshwar Prasad is charged with one count each of rape, sexual assault, and wrongful confinement and abduction.

The accused was 40-years-old and victim was 12-years-old at the time of the incident.

Defense counsel made Prasad’s third bail application, however, the Judge noted that there were no circumstantial changes.

Hence, the Judge made a ruling to have a bail application on the next sitting on May 10th.

The trial is set to begin from the 4th of December.
