The island of Cikobia is now experiencing strong winds and heavy rain as Tropical Cyclone Evan approaches the Northern Division.

Villager Josaia Rasoso told FBC News this started in the last hour.

He says all the elders of the village have been evacuated to the Cikobia Hospital.

Rasoso adds those staying in houses with weak structures have also been moved to higher grounds.
