Fiji Sugar Corporation chief executive Graham Clarke says they are optimistic of securing more sugar buyers from the Asian market.

Clarke says the good news is that after so many years, Fiji is now exporting sugar to China.

He says there are some interested buyers already in talks with FSC.

“Very good for Fiji because China is obviously very closer than Europe for example so the cost of freight and moving the sugar from here to China is more less than moving it far away so the net return to Fiji would be higher.”

Clarke says there will be five shipments of sugar this season.
