Candidates are advised not to misinterpret people

The Itaukei Affairs Ministry has strongly opposed comments made by SODELPA candidate Opetaia Ravai during a party rally in Suva last night.

Ravai had made claims that highly educated and urban based Itaukei’s are not allowed to attend provincial council meetings.

“It was this regulation I was reading and it’s quiet funny and odd to me…It’s said if you are an indigenous person and you are educated and you live in the urban areas you can’t attend to any provincial meeting it says there I’ll just tried and read it to you”

Itaukei Affairs Ministry Permanent Secretary Naipote Katonitabua is calling on candidates not to misinterpret any information regarding Itaukei Affairs as this will lead to misinformation being spread to the public.

Katonitabua is advising candidates to get their facts right before highlighting any issue.
