At least 40 passengers on board a Fiji Transport Bus are counting their lucky stars after escaping a fire today in Lovu Lautoka.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says according to the initial report, only one minor injury was recorded from the incident.

The bus fire happened at around 1pm today.

An eyewitness told FBC News the bus was fully engulfed in flames when the firefighters arrived at the scene.

The bus is also fully destroyed.

The Police and the National Fire Authority are still at the scene as investigations continue.
