Budget address underway

The 2017/2018 budget address is underway at the Parliament House in Suva.

Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has started his address with interjections from opposition, resulting in the Speaker, Doctor Jiko Luevni stepping in.

Luveni instructed Opposition they could not interject.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the Government wants to build a great Fijian economy and this is showing with the foreign reserves never seen before.

He added the Fijian economy continues to grow and this will continue for the next two years, making it 10 years of successful economic growth, which is a record for Fiji.

The Fijian foreign reserves stands at $2.287 billion and the economic growth forecasted for this year stands at 3.8%.
