Big job ahead for UAE commissioner

Fiji’s new high Commissioner to the United Arab Emirates – Kamlesh Prakash says his key role is to promote Fiji as an investment market choice.

Prakash who was commissioned by the President yesterday says Fiji is already the hub of the Pacific and the lowest tax regime should attract more investment.

He says other areas he will promote Fiji on is the commercial agriculture sector, the film industry, and promote Fiji as the destination of choice in tourism

“Several other countries are very wealthy, oil rich, lot of wealth to go around the country and have that kind of a lifestyle and luxury and they can afford it. Already in our tourism master plan for 2016 – 2020, I think we are targeting about 7000 visitors out of Abu Dhabi already – they are year marked to bring about $12.5m to Fiji.”

Prakash who will be flying out next month to UAE is accredited to 17 other nations.
