The Health Ministry is warning the public particularly those in the west to refrain from engaging with false agents with promises of treatment in India.

Spokesperson – Peni Namotu says they have been informed of two individuals who are claiming to be Health officials responsible for arranging for treatment overseas.

“I would like to say at this stage that it is something which is not true. The public should be cautious about engaging with these individuals.”

Namotu adds they have notified Police as arrangements for medical treatment overseas can’t be done by any other company in Fiji.

“These types of arrangement are only done at our headquarters in Suva where it is centralised and there are no agents around any parts of Fiji.”

Namotu says they will also be conducting their own investigations to identify the two individuals involved in the fraud.
