Education Minister Rosy Akbar has reminded parents, community leaders and teachers that they play an important role in ensuring their children have access to proper education.

“Your presence here indicates the interest that you have your children. We take away a lot of financial burdens off you we don’t expect you to pay school fees, we don’t expect you to pay bus fare. We only expect parents to look after their children’s health and their well-being and teach them moral values which start at home.”

430 schools were destroyed during TC Winston and the government is working with various stakeholders to rebuild these schools.
