Ben Padarath appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court today and his lawyer will be making submissions in regards to written mitigation.

They will also be submitting two affidavits and one character witness for the accused.

Padarath earlier pleaded guilty to one count of giving false information to a public servant.

On 23rd of January, 2011, Padarath gave false information via text messages to the Director of Immigration, Nemani Vuniwaqa, intending to cause him to put the name of one Paul Freeman on the Fiji Immigration watch list.

Magistrate Somaratne has asked prosecution to file sentencing submission by next week which will give him more time to go through it for the next two weeks.

Padarath will be sentenced on March 1st.
