Training women in solar electrification and engineering, addresses fourteen of the sustainable development goals.
Chief Executive Barefoot College International Meagan Fallone says the college which will be built in Vanua Levu will cater for sixty women annually and they will undergo training to become a trainer.
Fallone says once these women return to their communities, they will be able to train other women to contribute towards green initiatives against climate change.
“We are looking for it to become a regional center of learning for women across the Pacific. Barefoot college has already been working across 14 Pacific Islands with rural women, illiterate and semi-literate women and training them in solar electrification and solar energy.”
The Fiji Barefoot College, which is a solar electrification training centre has been jointly supported by the Fijian and Indian Government.
