The Amichandra Memorial Primary School in Lautoka will be closed for at least the next two days says the Education Ministry.

The Ministry says this will allow them to remove the debris and continue the investigation.

A fire broke out at the School on Saturday night and four classrooms serving students in Years 1, 2 and 3, and the library building were destroyed.

The school was empty at the time of the incident.

The Ministry in its statement says they are currently mobilizing resources to supply the school with textbooks, desks, chairs and temporary classroom structures.

Personnel from the Ministry, Office of the Commissioner Western and Military Forces are on standby to begin clearing debris once clearance is granted from the NFA and Police.

The Ministry will provide regular updates for parents and students regarding the school re-opening.
