Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has questioned the effectiveness of the National Youth Council.
This comes after several complaints were received by government regarding the council.
Sayed Khaiyum has clearly stated that the National Youth Council could diminish if it is politicized.
‘’We have had people complain to us that all you know this is all very political and we don’t want to get involved it because when we go we only hear only one view or one particular agenda and that i think it can diminish the National Youth Council’’.
Sayed Khaiyum says a review should be done as some youths are influencing the Council with their own political agenda.
National Youth Council Public Relations Officer Miki Wali says a decision for such review will only be made by the National Executive Committee of the council.
Sayed Khaiyum says one of the things that needs to be looked at is how are people selected to be members of the council.
